A root canal treatment in any tooth is a procedure that requires patience and experience!

A successful root canal treatment is a result of correct diagnosis, proper and thorough preparation of all the canals of the tooth, tight obturation of the canals throughout the full of their length and a proper restoration of the crown of the tooth.

Dr. George Papagrigorakis has performed thousands of successful root canal treatments and can advise you with confidence whether a tooth will benefit from a root canal treatment and the long term prognosis of the procedure.

Sometimes a tooth that has been endodontically treated starts giving signs of infection. Some other times there is a need for a tooth to be restored when this is already poorly root treated. In both instances, we consider a root canal retreatment (repeat of endodontic treatment).

The possible causes of the failure are taken into account and the decision is made whether a root canal re-treatment will be beneficial for the tooth or not. A 3-dimensional radiograph (CBCT scan) is often a very useful tool in the diagnosis and prognosis of the root canal retreatment.

Prior to the treatment

Brush your teeth and floss the night before as you normally do. Eat and drink according to your normal eating and drinking habits.

During the Treatment

You will just be asked to open wide for some time.

After the Treatment

You will need to refrain fro eating for sometime after the procedure, in rare cases some discomfort in the tooth that was treated

Results

The tooth will not be hurting anymore, if it was wobbly before, the mobility will significantly improve, you will be able to use the tooth normally. If it is a back tooth it will be most likely that it’ll need to be protected with a crown over it.
