A root canal treatment in any tooth is a procedure that requires patience and experience!
A successful root canal treatment is a result of correct diagnosis, proper and thorough preparation of all the canals of the tooth, tight obturation of the canals throughout the full of their length and a proper restoration of the crown of the tooth.
Dr. George Papagrigorakis has performed thousands of successful root canal treatments and can advise you with confidence whether a tooth will benefit from a root canal treatment and the long term prognosis of the procedure.
Sometimes a tooth that has been endodontically treated starts giving signs of infection. Some other times there is a need for a tooth to be restored when this is already poorly root treated. In both instances, we consider a root canal retreatment (repeat of endodontic treatment).
The possible causes of the failure are taken into account and the decision is made whether a root canal re-treatment will be beneficial for the tooth or not. A 3-dimensional radiograph (CBCT scan) is often a very useful tool in the diagnosis and prognosis of the root canal retreatment.
